George’s marvellous medicine

Chinese calligrapher

 

We had the most amazing assembly to start a Monday morning, we had a famous visitor from China that did calligraphy in Arabic and Chinese. He spoke in Chinese and had a translator to help us understand what he was saying. He called up children to copy his writing. They were amazing!!

Year 5 and 6 had a fantastic day at Cannock Chase Museum today as we explored what life was like on the home front during WW2. We spent the day at the museum and discovered life during: the blitz, rationing, evacuation as well as life at home throughout the war.

Remembrance Service

 

Year 5 was invited to attend the service at the church today to remember soldiers who have died in conflict. We made a poppy wreath to take with us to the war memorial: We had a minute’s silence at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

WW2 Drama

 

What a fantastic treat this morning for us all in year 5&6 this morning. We were visited by The Take Away theatre company who introduced the topic of WW2 to us through a theatre performance. The show was full laughter and tears; we were hooked from start to finish.

Super Science

 

Year five are learning all about forces in science this term.  The children were looking at gravitational energy this week, and planned their own experiments with self constructed pundulums.  Each team planned their own question to investigate, changing one variable and keeping the others the same to make sure it was a fair test.
