On Tuesday 26th April, Tiverton Academy took part in their second league game in 5 days against Bells Farm.
The game started very lively, with Tiverton having a header from Ewan Ratcliffe cleared off the line in the opening five minutes. Tiverton again went close from a corner, this time Myles Bridges just a whisker away from connecting with his head. As the half wore on, Bells Farm came into the game more and created a few chances themselves, captain in goal Cairo Pope, coming to the rescue for Tiverton. With ten minutes remaining of the half however, against the run of play, Bells Farm hit two goals in quick succession.
Second half started with Bells Farm piling on the pressure and being awarded a penalty for a handball in the area. This was converted, but still Tiverton heads didn’t drop as they pressed for a way back into the game. Again Tiverton tested the Bells Farm goalkeeper with a couple of one on one attacks, the keeper coming out on top both times. As the cold and tiredness began to creep in, Bells Farm hit Tiverton with another double – both deflected own goals – in quick succession. Tiverton had time for one last attack, again the keeper equal to the shot.
Final Score:- Tiverton 0 – 5 Bells Farm
Again, another score line that didn’t represent just how much effort the boys put in and that they deserved at least a draw from the game. Still, we dust ourselves down and go again in our next match!!
