This half term, Mrs Edwards and a team of Key Stage 2 gardeners have been getting to grips with Autumn in the garden and preparing for Winter.
They have looked at seasonal changes: discussing chlorophyll and the effect colder, darker days have on the colour of the leaves and the way this makes them fall onto the ground.
Worms play a big part in the health of the garden and so checking on the wormery was essential, we learned about the liquid fertiliser that they produce.
We looked at bulbs, naming different ones such daffodils and hyacinths. We then prepared the beds ready for planting edible bulbs such as shallots and garlic. We did lots of work about how to work with bulbs safely.
Our final task was to learn about tubers and dig up some of the late crop potatoes. What shall we do with them?!
