Today Year 3 went on their very own adventure, as part of their Adventurers and Explorers topic. Usually, our science lessons are in the classroom, so we thought it was about time we put on our wellies and explored science in our outside world.
We kicked off the day with a walk to Bournville Park, where we learned how to use a compass, we went on a scavenger hunt and we had a fab time splashing about in the river, pond-dipping with nets and using magnifying glasses and petri dishes to identify any river life we could find, before carefully returning it to its home.
We spent the afternoon at Rowheath Park, where we had a walk around the lake spotting signs of the changing seasons – we identified birds, trees and plants, and saw lots of new flowers beginning to shoot up from the ground. We sat by the lake and used four of our five senses (sight, smell, touch and hearing) to find out more information about the lake….and some very noisy ducks came along to join the fun too.
