Reading Inspire workshop

Year 2 have had a wonderful morning with our parents at our Reading Inspire workshop. Thank you to all the parents who attended.

We have had Book Tasting, which went down a treat! A wonderful job Mrs Ward. You too can create mini version of this at home with different hobbies and interests. We would love to see what ideas you come up with.

Year 2 played various games from identifying diagraphs, roll and say the tricky words and a  verb lucky dip.

All of these games can be created at home as well for you to support your child with their early reading.

Celebrate your child’s reading at home by sharing the book we read during the week at school. You can access this through Collins ebooks. (Login details are at the front of your reading records.) Ask two or three questions when your child has completed the book to gather their understanding. Perhaps they can draw a picture of a character and explain how they are feeling in a few sentences. Or Recall what has happened in the middle of the story and why. (Do not forget to check that the sentences make sense!)

Register with your local Library (Touchbase pears Selly Oak/ Stirchley) to continue the passion and curiosity for books!
