🚗 Year 4 DT – slingshot cars🚗

The current unit that Year 4 are working on involves using kinetic energy to power a small vehicle.

First, they created a strong chassis using lollipop sticks, a dowel axle and wooden wheels.

Would it travel?  It certainly would!  Time to test those launchers and get the kinetic energy flowing!

The next stage was to become car body designers.  They had to carefully measure the chassis to make sure that the body did not prevent the wheels from turning. So many skills were needed: accurate measuring, creating a template, cutting smoothly and applying tabs.  They had to communicate and collaborate in order to reach the end point.
