Attendance

It is a legal requirement that children attend school every day unless they are unwell. It is also essential that they arrive in school on time. It is the expectation that all children who attend Tiverton Academy will have a minimum of 95% attendance and all children will arrive in school by 9am every day.

If your child’s attendance falls below 95% or they are consistently late a referral may be made to Big Community Intervention Service. This may result in you being contacted by a social worker.

If your child continues to be persistently absent legal proceedings may be instigated. Any holidays taken during school time will be classed as an unauthorised absence, along with continued periods of sickness where medical evidence is not provided.

Every day or part day that is missed from school has a significant impact on your child’s learning. Time taken off school can also impact on their emotional well-being, confidence and self-esteem.

We need to work together so all our children succeed and can make the very best of their education. This can only happen if they attend school regularly and on time.
