Part of the programme encourages reading regularly. You too can read the book that your child has been reading in class 3 times a week on Collins Hub. Your child will also bring a free choice book to share with you at home. Please read with them and log your reading in your Reading records.
RE:
For the Spring Term Year Ones topic is
Being fair and just
Being accountable and Living with integrity
To help us understand better we will focus on various questions to support us:
Does it matter if people are unfair?
Who decides what is fair? What is wisdom?
Who decides what is fair? Is it God?
Can others depend on you? What impact does being unfair have upon your friendship?
Can you let yourself down? What can do Jewish people and Christians learn from the story of Jonah about running away from God? How is the story of Jonah important to Jewish people and Christians? How do many Jewish families say sorry to each other and sorry to God?
RHSE
Children can identify and name their trusted adults, explaining why it’s important to talk to them when they feel worried, unsafe, or unhappy.
Children can describe what makes a good friend, giving examples of kind and respectful behaviours in friendships and family relationships.
Children understand that their body belongs to them, can name basic emotions, and know simple ways to manage their feelings or ask for help.
Children can identify basic online safety rules, explaining why it’s important to use the internet with an adult and to tell a grown-up if something online makes them feel uncomfortable.
Science: Animals: sensitive bodies
We will be naming parts of the human body. We will then name the body parts used for each sense and spot patterns in data.
Moving on we will identify body parts used for the sense of taste and touch. We will then use the senses to make observations.
Comparing animals:
We will identify, describe and group a variety of animals. We will then compare the features of animals. We will identify animals that are carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. In order to conduct research we will be using non-fiction texts. |
