Poetry Day 2019
Year 3 celebrated this year’s Poetry Day in a number of engaging ways.
We first identified and looked at the poetry books that we have in our class library, with a number of children proud to share their published poems written when they were in Reception.
We then watched some clips of famous poets reading aloud. The children particularly liked Benjamin Zephaniah’s inspirational poem about a pencil, and Michael Rosen’s Chocolate Cake which had them all in laughter.
The children then had a go at creating their own poems using newspaper articles. They produced some fantastic poems, and enjoyed having creative freedom in presenting their work.
