Maths Videos and Games – Numbers to 10 and 20
Since the beginning of term the children have been getting familiar with numbers to ten and twenty. We have counted objects, used our fingers, used online games and matching cards to become familiar with counting up to and down from ten and twenty.
These videos on You Tube are good for counting to 10 and 20
These games are good for learning number to 10 and 20
These are online games that we have been or are using to teach maths in the classroom. Please have a little go at them with your child.
Things to bare in mind when playing the games;
- Be realistic about your child’s ability, rushing them could leave them with gaps in their knowledge
- Let your child lead, try not to answer for them
- Take time, do the games in short bursts and stop when your child has had enough
The majority of the class will use Teddy Numbers to count with 1:1 correspondence and match amounts and numbers. This is exactly where they should be and this game will probably be the most useful and the most familiar to your child.

The next game is Today’s Number. This is one that can be done over time (a number a day, say) and may be ideal for the half term holiday that is coming up, should the opportunity arise. Each number has a set of tasks assigned to it, it is one that isn’t really suitable for the classroom because the children need something pacier but it could be really very useful at home.

Have fun!
