Odd and Even

New concept in reception today . . . odd and even numbers.

Thank you to Subegh, who took this lovely picture!

Odd and even numbers are hard work and we had to do a lot of preparation before we could even start to think about what odd and even numbers are! We had to recap numbers to twenty to make a number line THEN recap or even use for the first time a twenty frame (although we all had used ten frames) and THEN we had to count out cubes onto the frame using 1:1 correspondence and lots of cooperation. As if that wasn’t enough, Mrs Hyde made us find out which numbers all had cubes with dancing partners . . . an all dancing partners number is even and an odd one means the number has an odd cube left with no dancing partner. Mrs Hyde worked us hard but it was fun and we were superstars.
