World Book Day

We had a special guest visitor come into Year 1 to read us their favourite book… The Gruffalo. Which we thoroughly enjoyed!

We then read the story Speak Up!  We discussed various ways that we can support others and make positive changes where ever we are and how to become good citizens and role models. We identified that this also relates to our school value for this term (Citizenship). To help create ideas of how we can be good citizens we created posters.

Towards the end of the day we read a wonderful poem called Caterpillar cake we created actions to some of the words. Then we decorated our own caterpillar biscuit faces!

Throughout the day we visited our book corner to share our favourite books with our friends.

Year  1 would like to challenge you to read in different places! Reading 10 minutes a day can increase your vocabulary over time by up to 700,000 words!
