Diwali In Reception

Today we found out a little bit about Diwali, how it is celebrated by Sikh, Hindu and Jain families and what they do in preparation for their celebrations. For this we used the book Dipal’s Diwali and watched a video from the CBeebies ‘My First’ series https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXIZpwCaFxI

At the end of the day we listened briefly to the story of Rama and Sita to find out more about the significance of light in the Diwali story. We made Diwa lamps like the ones in the story. Half are here and the rest should be finished tomorrow . . . watch this space!
