National Poetry Day

To celebrate National Poetry Day 2019, Y4 read a range of topical news stories. We learned about a fox who got inside; a polar research ship; the school climate strikes; and a project enabling more children to go to school in Sierra Leone.

Next, we selected words and phrases that spoke to us or excited us, cut them out and collected them in a piles of ‘word treasures’.

Finally, we arranged these words and phrases into lines of poetry to encapsulate the story, or our feelings about it. What do you think?
