Year 6 – Reading, Reading…. so many different types of reading

After break, each day at the start of the week, Year 6 get to relax in their Reading Workshop.  In this time, they get to practise their skills; not only in independent reading but also in self-motivation, concentration and time management.

In a rotation we…

read a short text and answer questions

or enjoy reading our free-choice texts ….

…wherever we feel most comfortable!

…or we work on our self-guided magazine-creating project, exploring a non-fiction topic of our choice…

or we explore our Year 6 spelling words (and practise our handwriting) using  dictionaries to find out the definitions…

…or we use reading to understand reasoning questions on Mathletics…

and once  a week we work with Miss Brewster to hone our reading text skills using the Domain Dogs as our guides!
